The Electro-Harmonix Ripped Speaker is a modern fuzz pedal with old-school roots, paying homage to early distorted guitar and bass sounds created by methods like a razor blade applied to a speaker cone, a loose tube or a faulty channel on a recording console. At low fuzz settings it emulates those lo-fi distortion sounds; cranking the fuzz up transforms the tone into something more modern and monumental, with a searing, fully saturated fuzz sound.
Highlights
- RIP knob is a bias control setting the amount of clipping at the top and bottom of the signal waveform - noon is neutral, clockwise produces a hard gating 'dying battery' effect, counterclockwise produces a smoother gating fuzz where the signal fades out quickly
- Active TONE control delivers a tilt-shift EQ, flat at noon, darker with more lows counterclockwise and brighter with more highs clockwise
- True bypass switching
- Pedalboard-friendly size
- 9V battery included
