The NU-X Tape Echo is a tribute to the Japanese-made Space Echo from 1974. Analogue tape echo devices record incoming audio to a loop of magnetic tape, then replay the continuous loop over the playback head before it's erased again by new incoming audio. Rather than the standard 1/4" reel-to-reel tape the Space Echo units used, this pedal's tape loop is transported via a capstan drive and contained in an enclosed tape chamber, protected from tangling, for lower noise, wow and flutter, and reduced tape wear.
Highlights
- Up to 1600ms of stereo delay time via Tap Tempo
- 7 Repro-Tape head combinations, plus a reverb-only mode
- Core-Image technology recreates natural tape echo with a parallel spring reverb sound
- Realistic infinite pitch-shift feedback via the Time & Repeat knobs
- 40-second stereo phrase loop with OLED status display, plus optional delay time display (MS/BPM)
- MIDI In/Out, with sub-division time signature control via the Tap Tempo foot-switch
