The Maxon OD-9 is the pedal that cemented the OD808's overdrive sound in rock guitar history. Its circuit is the original OD-9 (TS-9) design, built on the same PC board Maxon has used for over 30 years, with true bypass switching added for clean, uncoloured tone when off. Like the original, it uses the NJM (JRC) 4558D Op Amp for smoother, less compressed sound with low noise than other op amps. Without the FET switching circuit, the OD-9 has a bit more output and a slightly more open sound than the OD808.
