The PRISM was designed using a systems approach to tone shaping: while it contains many features and circuits, each is precisely crafted to work in harmony with the others. Conceived between Brad and Nigel as a tool that players could use to unify their rigs regardless of the guitar being used, its +/-15dB active EQ gives an incredible amount of tonal control with zero interaction between the BODY and TONE controls, meaning it can be placed at the front of a rig and used as a master EQ. As a boost/preamp, the PRISM contains three of the most distinct voices of boosts available: a transparent clean boost with no tonal colouring (TRANS), a boost that emulates a vacuum tube amp (AMP), and the silicon treble booster circuit that started it all (COLOR). Each circuit is totally discrete, sharing zero circuitry with the others, and is contained in its own true bypass loop. The PRISM is a true bypass pedal featuring silent switching circuitry that uses relays with a soft-touch momentary contact footswitch, boasting a lifespan of over 100,000 cycles. At the end of the signal path, a high current buffer strengthens your signal and preserves your tone regardless of how complex your pedalboard is or how long the cable run is back to your amp. Jackson Audio recommends placing the PRISM first in the signal chain to get the most from both the active EQ and the COLOR treble booster circuit.
