Fulltone OCDv2 Overdrive / Distortion Pedal
Guaranteed Safe Checkout:
The Fulltone OCD was the first pedal to use Mosfets as clipping devices, configured as hard-clippers connected to voltage reference rather than to ground, which contributes to its touch-sensitive response to hard and soft picking. The OCDv2 adds a new output buffer - active whenever the pedal is on in True-Bypass mode, or at all times in Enhanced Bypass mode - that keeps tone consistent regardless of where the pedal sits in a complex signal chain, while also reducing loading on the hard-clipping stage for more sustain. A new Class-A discrete 2N5457 JFET input section raises input impedance from 330K to 1 mega ohm, improving dynamics and interaction with both single-coil and humbucker pickups. An internal switch selects between Fulltone's own Enhanced Bypass and conventional True-Bypass, with no popping sound in either mode; Enhanced Bypass keeps the switching FETs configured Class-A so full dynamics and pick response are preserved even with the pedal turned off, without shifting phase or altering EQ. The OCD has seen small ongoing refinements since its 2004 debut, and units with serial numbers 205811 and higher run the latest, less-compressed circuit.
Highlights
- First pedal to use Mosfets as clipping devices, hard-clipping to voltage reference rather than to ground
- New output buffer, active in True-Bypass (when on) and always in Enhanced Bypass, for consistent tone and added sustain
- Class-A discrete 2N5457 JFET input stage lifts input impedance from 330K to 1 mega ohm for better pickup interaction
- Internal switch selects between Enhanced Bypass and True-Bypass, with no popping in either mode
- Enhanced Bypass preserves full dynamics and pick response even with the pedal off, without altering phase or EQ
- Ongoing refinement since the OCD's 2004 debut; serial numbers 205811 and higher run the latest, less-compressed circuit
