Boss EH-2  Enhancer Pedal- Taiwan - August 1990 ( NO BOX) ( Pre Owned) ZB78498

The Boss EH-2 Enhancer is a discontinued pedal that acts as a frequency-dependent expander, boosting higher frequencies dynamically based on playing intensity. Key specs include a 9V DC power supply, Sens, Frequency, and Mix controls, standard input/output jacks, and the ability to be powered by battery or optional AC adapter. The pedal adds clarity, sparkle, and dynamics to a guitar's signal, with the Mix knob offering positive or negative phase mixing and the Sensitivity knob controlling how hard you must play for the effect to occur.

  • Power: 9V DC Battery or optional AC Adapter (Boss PSA-240)
  • Current Draw: 24mA (at 9V DC)
  • Controls:
  • SENS (Sensitivity): Adjusts how hard you need to play for the effect to kick in.
  • FREQUENCY: Selects the specific upper midrange frequencies that will be enhanced.
  • MIX: Controls the level of the effect. Turning it clockwise offers a natural enhancement, while turning it anticlockwise provides a different (negative phase) enhancement.
  • Jacks: Input, Output, and AC Adaptor
  • Indicators: Effect On/Off indicator, which also serves as a battery check indicator.
  • Functionality
  • Frequency-Dependent Expander:
Unlike a compressor, the EH-2 enhances the louder parts of your signal by boosting higher frequencies dynamically as you play harder.
  • "Always On" or Mix Enhancement:
It can provide a subtle gloss to the sound, making it suitable as an "always on" pedal. The Mix knob can also mix in the processed signal with your dry signal, allowing for a blend of clean and enhanced sound.
  • Use Cases:
  • Adding Polish:
Enhances clarity and makes notes more defined, giving your sound extra polish and muscle.
  • Cutting Through a Mix:
Effectively increases the presence and sheen of lead parts, helping them cut through a mix.
  • Compensating for High-End Loss:
Can be used at the end of a pedal chain to restore high-end frequencies lost from multiple buffered pedals.
  • Studio Recording:
Useful for adding a dynamic presence to a guitar signal when recording.
