Boss PH-1R Phaser Pedal- Japan - March 1983 - Black Label ( NO BOX) ( Pre Owned )
The BOSS PH-1R Japan is a historic, four-stage phaser guitar effect pedal, produced in Japan from the early to mid-1980s. It builds on the original PH-1 by adding a "Resonance" control, which acts as a feedback knob to control the intensity and "swirl" of the effect, allowing for both subtle phasing and more extreme, organic wobble tones. This reliable, classic green pedal is known for its warm, three-dimensional sound and rugged design, making it a sought-after vintage effect.
Key Features:
- Added Resonance Control: The defining feature of the PH-1R, the "Resonance" (Res) knob controls the amount of signal fed back into the effect circuit, increasing the intensity and swirl of the phase effect.
- Four-Stage Phasing: It employs a four-stage phase shifting circuit for its unique swirling, undulating sound.
- Controls: Features three knobs for controlling the effect: Rate (speed), Depth (amount of effect), and Resonance (feedback).
- Classic Green Enclosure: The pedal is easily identifiable by its iconic green finish.
- Reliable Design: Known for its rugged and reliable construction, making it very durable.
- Warm and Subtle Tone: Praised for its warm, subtle, and magical swirling tones, with a three-dimensional quality not found in later models.
- Historical Significance: It was a significant innovation for the time, modifying the original PH-1 with the addition of the Resonance control, and was part of the early phase of BOSS's compact pedal production.
- Production Period: The PH-1R was sold from October 1980 to April 1985.
- Made in Japan: These pedals were manufactured in Japan during their production run, typically featuring a black "Made in Japan" label on the base.
