You'll find you can get the D20 MK2 to break up easily while retaining full volume control if that's what you're looking for, but it also has increased headroom to keep your cleans squeaky clean when needed. The controls are quite usable across their full range, so you won't find yourself limited to a specific \"style\" of clean\/crunch tone: we always say our amps are \"Canadian\" rather than strictly sticking to an American or British formula!
